"We don't fit in any one category! Our music can't be labelled!" It's a familiar cry, often from musicians who are eminently and instantly categorisable, but in this case, if this is one of the possible categories, I have to say I sympathise:

Record shop, Bergen

I'm sure it's my Peelism asserting itself, but now I really want to know what 'Plingplong, Blippblopp og Datamusik' might be. I suspect it's some variant of Chiptune or Demoscene/Tracker music.

If I were a proper Peelist, I'd steam off to Bergen in order to find out.

The achingly earnest "keeping it real with real instuments" vibe of the shop was such that, while chiptune certainly came into it, a huge variety of electronica also found itself thrust into this section. I'm pretty certain I saw Shackleton in there, for a start. In fact I'm not even sure they had another electronica category...

My favourite record shop in all the world (Driftin', Cheltenham) had a big bin marked 'New in' that everything filtered through. A splendid idea that caused me regular expense.

Anyway, it appears that I do 'datamusikk' a disservice: http://www.youtube.com/user/epo98#p/a/u/2/0quq96TA4uA

It's Norwegian (or similar) for "Plingplong, Blipblop and Datamusic"

Truly this is the Røsetta Stone for the Scandinavian languages.

Perfect! My new favourite genre by at least a mile.
